OSLIA DROP
OSLIA DROP ONLINE AT BEST PRICE IN PAKISTAN
GENERIC: Vitamin D3 400 IU (Cholecalciferol)
MANUFACTURER: High-Q Pharma
QUANTITY
1 bottle (oral drops)
INDICATION
Oslia Drop is a vitamin D3 supplement in oral drop formulation indicated for the prevention and treatment of vitamin D deficiency in infants, children, and adults. Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is essential for calcium and phosphorus absorption, healthy bone mineralization, and immune system function. It is prescribed for infants who are exclusively or partially breastfed (breast milk contains insufficient vitamin D), children at risk of rickets, and adults with documented deficiency or inadequate sun exposure.
MECHANISM OF ACTION
Cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) is hydroxylated in the liver to 25-hydroxyvitamin D (calcidiol) and then further converted in the kidneys to 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D (calcitriol), the biologically active form. Calcitriol binds to vitamin D receptors in the intestine, bone, kidney, and other tissues. In the intestine, it stimulates the active absorption of calcium and phosphorus. In bone, it promotes mineralization and remodeling. It also modulates immune cell function and supports neuromuscular health.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
● Infants 0 to 12 months: 400 IU (1 drop) daily, starting from birth
● Children 1 to 18 years: 400 to 600 IU daily depending on dietary intake and sun exposure
● Adults with deficiency: dose as directed by the physician based on serum 25(OH)D levels
● Administer directly into the mouth or mix with a small amount of milk or formula
● Do not exceed the recommended dose without medical supervision
● Consistent daily use is important for maintaining adequate vitamin D status
SIDE EFFECTS
Common:
● Vitamin D3 at 400 IU daily is very well tolerated with no significant side effects at this dose
● Rare mild gastrointestinal discomfort
Less common:
● Hypercalcemia (elevated blood calcium) occurs only with excessive doses far above 400 IU, presenting as nausea, vomiting, weakness, and confusion
● Hypercalciuria and kidney stone formation with chronic overdosing
● Allergic reaction to any excipient (extremely rare)
NOT RECOMMENDED IN
● Patients with hypercalcemia (elevated blood calcium levels)
● Patients with hypervitaminosis D
● Known hypersensitivity to cholecalciferol or any component of the formulation
● Severe renal impairment without medical supervision, as impaired kidneys cannot convert vitamin D to its active form
DRUG INTERACTIONS
Thiazide diuretics reduce urinary calcium excretion and may increase the risk of hypercalcemia when combined with vitamin D supplementation. Corticosteroids may reduce calcium absorption and counteract vitamin D effects. Orlistat, cholestyramine, and other fat-absorption inhibitors may reduce vitamin D absorption, as it is a fat-soluble vitamin. Cardiac glycosides (digoxin) toxicity may increase if hypercalcemia develops from excessive vitamin D intake.
STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS
Store below 25 degrees Celsius. Protect from light. Keep the bottle tightly closed. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
