INDICATION
Optidine 0.1% Drops are an antiallergic ophthalmic solution indicated for the treatment of signs and symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis including itching, redness, tearing, and swelling. The 0.1% formulation requires twice-daily dosing and is effective for both seasonal and perennial allergic conjunctivitis caused by pollen, dust, pet dander, and other environmental allergens.

Olopatadine is a dual-action agent that serves as a selective H1-receptor antagonist and a mast cell stabilizer. It blocks histamine from binding to H1 receptors on conjunctival cells, reducing itching, redness, and swelling. It also stabilizes mast cell membranes, preventing degranulation and release of inflammatory mediators. This dual mechanism provides both immediate symptom relief and preventive action.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
● Instill 1 to 2 drops in the affected eye(s) twice daily at an interval of 6 to 8 hours
● Remove contact lenses before instillation and wait 10 minutes before reinserting
● Continue treatment for the duration of allergen exposure
● Do not use more frequently than twice daily
● Avoid touching the dropper to the eye or any surface
SIDE EFFECTS
Common:
● Mild stinging or burning upon instillation
● Headache
● Mild taste disturbance
Less common:
● Dry eye sensation
● Blurred vision
● Eyelid edema
● Drowsiness (rare)
